New Hope Story

The New Hope Church Story

March 1989: New Hope began in the old C. J. Harris Elementary School Auditorium in Pearland (now part of the Pearland College). Six months after the Grand Opening the church moved to a strip mall and began experimenting with what would work to reach people who were far from God. The church ran about 75 people in attendance for the first six years.

December 1994:  We moved to the C. A. Nelson Auditorium and restarted. Attendance immediately doubled as more and more people found New Hope. Over the next three years, the church raised money to buy 22 acres on the west side of Pearland.

January 1998: The church opened the doors of our first building on the new 22 acre site. Attendance doubled again, and again, and again. More buildings were built and at one point there were 6 services each weekend to handle the crowd. But eventually it became obvious: God had bigger plans for us than one property could handle.

August 2006: The church sold the 22 acre property and opened up the 120 acre site we now call, “The 288 Campus.”

Easter 2008: We launched our East Campus at the Vic Coppinger YMCA. This campus officially made New Hope Church a “multi-site” church. Our vibrant East Campus now has nearly 500 people attend each weekend!

Fall 2008: We launched our internet campus. While hundreds of people view our archived services, we didn’t know what the response would be to our virtual campus. Now it is not uncommon for 100 to 200 homes here, and abroad, to watch the live stream of our services! Our Campus Host welcomes and even prays (via the chat option) for people attending the
i-campus.

Today: New Hope Church has around 5,000 in attendance on the weekends. We’re now watching for where God wants us to begin our next campus. What began with a few has grown and developed into an active, fulfilling, significant ministry to thousands. God’s hand has been on the New Hope Church family, and prayers continue to be lifted up asking for His guidance and wisdom as more and more people come to know Him and help to make Him known!
