New Hope Story

The New Hope Church Story

March 1989: The church began in the old C. J. Harris Elementary School Auditorium in Pearland (now part of the Pearland College). Six months after the Grand Opening the church moved to a strip mall and began experimenting with what would work to reach people who were far from God. The church ran about 75 people in attendance for the first six years.

December 1994: The church moved to the C. A. Nelson Auditorium and restarted. Attendance immediately doubled as more and more people found New Hope. Over the next three years, the church raised money to buy 22 acres on the west side of Pearland.

January 1998: The church opened the doors of the first building on the new 22 acre site. Attendance doubled again. And again. And again. More buildings were built and at one point there were 6 services each weekend to handle the crowd. But eventually it became obvious: God had bigger plans for us than our property could handle.

August 2006: The church left the 22 acre property and opened up the 120 acre site we call, The 288 Campus.

Today: God has called us to begin more New Hope Church Campuses. Our East Pearland campus is the first of what we hope will be many new campuses that God will use.  What began with a few has grown and developed into an active, fulfilling, significant ministry to thousands. God’s hand has been on the New Hope Church family, and prayers continue to be lifted up asking for His guidance and wisdom as more and more people come to know Him and help to make Him known!
